How many people does it take to prepare 40 baby bottles a day, change 420 diapers a week, and administer feedings every three hours? Two, as in Danielle and Adam Busby. In April 2015, the Texas couple became parents to the first-ever all-female quintuplets born in the U.S. The new additions -- Ava, Olivia, Hazel, Riley and Parker -- join 4-year-old Blayke, turning a family of three into a bustling household of eight overnight. "Outdaughtered" profiles the Busbys' journey, focusing on the babies' delivery and the massive adjustment period that follows. Lending much-needed help are Danielle's older twin sisters, Ashley and Crystal, and her zany mom, Michelle.
The reality doc offers a rather mundane look at the everyday challenges that come with raising multiples. What sets it apart from other multiple birth-themed shows such as Kate Plus 8 is the fact that these quintuples, who were conceived with the help of fertility treatments, are the first all-female set born in the U.S., as well as the first set of surviving quintuplets in the United States since 1969...The quints are certainly novel, and there are a few lighthearted moments here and there. Grandma Mimi occasionally makes things interesting, especially when she makes the more challenging baby-rearing moments about her. But most of the series is spent creating voyeuristic entertainment out of the otherwise tedious routines required for keeping a household full of small children of the same age running as smoothly as it can.--Melissa Camacho, Common Sense Media
