The Big Bang Theory is an American television sitcom created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, both of whom served as executive producers on the series, along with Steven Molaro. All three also served as head writers. The show premiered on CBS on September 24, 2007 and concluded on May 16, 2019, having broadcast a total of 279 episodes over 12 seasons.
"The Big Bang Theory" has defied all odds and managed to survive for a full nine seasons. The first half of the ninth season saw considerable growth in the characters of Sheldon and Amy, as they broke up and got back together again. We didn't see the same growth in the relationship of Leonard and Penny, where all the fears and doubts that had built up between them were suddenly brushed aside by the show's writers. The second half of the season was less successful, failing to utilize any of the other three major characters (Howard, Bernadette, and Raj) of the show. The result was a very uneven second half of the season.--Jesse Sheeden, IGN, May 22, 2016
